Both are beautiful, durable and made without mining. Here's how they differ.
Lab-grown diamond
- A real diamond: the same carbon crystal as a mined diamond, just grown in a laboratory.
- Hardness 10, the hardest natural material.
- Classic white sparkle. Graded on the 4Cs, and every one we set comes with an IGI report.
- Costs far less than a mined diamond of the same size and quality.
Moissanite
- A different gemstone (silicon carbide), not a diamond.
- Hardness 9.25, more than hard enough for everyday wear.
- Throws more rainbow fire than a diamond, especially in sunlight and larger sizes.
- The most affordable way to a large, brilliant centre stone.
Which should I choose?
If you want a diamond, choose lab-grown. If you want the most size and fire for your budget, choose moissanite. You can see both at a private viewing, or start in the Diamond Selector.
